What is the role of the Community Council?

Communication

The key role of your Community Council is communication. It is our job to find out, co-ordinate and present the views of the community we represent to Scottish Borders Council, other public authorities such as the Scottish government and any other organisations, about matters for which those authorities are responsible.

Take Action

We work to communicate relevant information that we receive from Scottish Borders Council and other authorities, to the community. We can also take action in the interests of the community which appears to be sensible and practicable. Where appropriate, either take action or lobby for action by the body responsible.

Responsibilities

We respond to consultation documents on behalf of, and where appropriate, with the community. We support projects and carry out works to to improve and maintain local facilities, and help to fund village improvements where we can.

Dates of meetings, agendas and minutes

Dates of meetings, agendas and minutes can be found on local notice boards, one in each of the three main villages, and on this website. We organise events such as coffee mornings where we can listen to local views and gather information about local issues.
